Services

Tiffany Amerson,

MA, Licensed Professional Counselor

Hey there! I'm glad you've made the brave step to explore counseling and stop by my site. I look forward to getting to know you, but in the meantime, here's a little info about me...

I provide competent and casual counseling services to women. I have over 16 years of experience as a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas (LPC64615).

My love for people growing up led me to Texas A&M to get my bachelors degree in psychology. During my years at A&M, I gained leadership skills by working as a counselor at Pine Cove family camp and first started gleaning the skills needed for healthy listening and crisis intervention during my work at A&M's Student Counseling Helpline.

After A&M, I went on to graduate with my masters degree in Counseling from DTS in 2008 and started my work at The Turning Point Rape Crisis Center as an intern shortly thereafter. This was where the roots of my passion for treating women with anxiety, depression and trauma began.

From there I worked at Galaxy Counseling Center working with families, couples, children, and individuals in the therapeutic setting as well as leading anger management groups.

I also gained invaluable skills with treating mood disorders, trauma, and substance abuse in the inpatient setting at the Adult Women unit at Nexus Recovery Center in Dallas. There I had the honor of working with women individually and led groups on topics such as grief, coping skills, anxiety, depression, substance abuse education, life skills, codependency, and more. This was also an excellent "speed course" in better understanding psychopharmacology and coaching clients on how to ask the right questions to get their medication needs met with their psychiatrist and observing first hand their short-term results.

All the while when working in the agency setting, I maintained clientele in a part-time private-practice setting seeing kids, teens, and adults in various capacities sharpening my skills in integration with Christian counseling.

I now focus the entirety of my therapeutic efforts at my own private practice, Holding Hope DFW.

I continue to attend workshops and trainings to stay current and informed on evidence-based practices for treating my clients. This includes Postpartum Support International's "Perinatal Mood & Anxiety Disorder Components of Care" certificate course as well as their "Advanced Psychotherapy" certificate course.

I love seeing mommas in my current practice. It's my honor to walk alongside women during these years of personal change as they process the present and how the past may play a part in their struggles as well.

Part of my personal story involves experiencing postpartum depression and anxiety after the births of my 2nd and 3rd children. These dark times in my life helped enhance my counseling skills and deepened my ability to comfort others in the same ways that I have been comforted both personally and professionally.

I am married to my best friend, Ryan, and we have 4 children who keep us quite busy. I am a dog lover, a plant lady, and avid reader of all types of books.

I look forward to connecting with you.
